Best in the East?

Best in the East?

Toronto Raptors Get off to Fast Start, 3-0 After First Week

The Boston Celtics came into the season as Eastern Conference favourites.

Chances are, a week into the season, that overall belief hasn’t changed.

With the two Toronto Raptors stars Kawhi Leonard and Kyle Lowry leading the way, the Raptors are 3-0 in the early goings off the season, picking up wins agains the Cleveland Cavaliers, Celtics, and Washington Wizards. The Wizards victory came on the road, on the second half of a back-to-back with Leonard resting no less. The marque matchup against the Celtics ended in a double-digit point victory for the Raptors. As Leonard continues to get into the swing of things, the Raptors continue to look like one of the front-runners to not only compete for the East, but to give the Golden State Warriors a run for their money.

“Lungs feel good out there, what I’m trying to do is just get my legs under me, get used to playing these NBA games, getting hit, running up and down the floor, guarding these great players throughout the minutes that I am out there,” said Leonard, who played just nine games last season due to injury. It’s still going to take time.”

Very clearly, the Raptors are showing that they are one of the deeper teams in the League, with the ability to get scoring contributions from any player they call upon. As the team finds the right consistent starting lineup, the team’s bench can reassume its spot as the top second unit in the NBA.

Coming up next for the Raptors are the Charlotte Hornets. No matter the opponent, every game will be instrumental in growing team chemistry and finding the right lineups that can optimize the team’s overall performance.

It’s a long season and this is only the beginning.
