Bulls’ Lauri Markkanen Cleared for Practice, Could Return on Dec. 4
A key part of the Chicago Bulls future is nearing his return.
This week it was confirmed that second year big man Lauri Markkanen was cleared by team doctors to participate in full contact practice. The hope for the Bulls is that Markkanen can return to action as soon as December 4.
“Lauri is excited, his teammates are excited and certainly his coaches are excited,’’ said head coach Fred Hoidberg said. “Yeah, the plan for Lauri is to have a full-contact practice with no limitations [on Tuesday]. It’s going to be a day-by-day situation. If he has soreness, we’ll obviously scale back, but if he keeps making progress, we can keep getting him out on the floor soon.’’
Markannen has not played this season after injuring his right elbow the first week of camp.
After losing guard Denzel Valentine for the season due to an ankle injury, these news should be well received by the Bulls organization. Markkanen had a very productive rookie campaign in which he received All-Rookie first team honours after averaging 15.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
