Anthony Davis, LeBron James Met for Dinner Following Lakers Win
The King is just adding fuel to the fire.
Rumours have been circulating around the Los Angeles Lakers interest in New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis and while 28 other teams more than likely have some level of interest in Davis, the Lakers seem poised to shoot their shot. Rumours heated up after comments made by LeBron James regarding Davis, but the Pelicans star shot them down saying his focus remains on his team and his teammates.
So of course, the Pelicans and the Lakers had a game to play in Los Angeles right as the rumours were beginning to blow out of proportion. Despite a 112-104 loss, Davis remained poised following the game.
“I’d take legacy over money,” Said Davis following the loss. “I want to have a legacy. All my people that look up to me, the younger kids, I want them to know about AD’s legacy. Championships, the things I do in the community, being a good teammate, playing hard. All that stuff matters the most to me. Don’t get me wrong, money is amazing. But I think in that sense, money or legacy, I think my legacy will win that battle every time.”
After the contest, Davis met up with James for a postgame dinner in Los Angeles – a nice gesture that has been dubbed as tampering by various coaches and executives around the league.
Of course, it’s James. Magic Johnson runs this team and we’re talking Lakers. Send tampering fines their way, and they will spit out the money to cover it. Davis is eligible to become a free agent in 2020, that is unless he signs for the supermax this upcoming offseason. Earlier in the year, Davis purchased a $7.5 million house in Los Angeles County.
