Miami Center Hassan Whiteside Leaves Bench Early During Loss to Magic
Hassan Whiteside and the Miami Heat just don’t see eye to eye.
Entering the season, reports suggested that the organization and Whiteside have moved past their conflicts with an eye at leaving it in the past.
Well, the drama resurfaced on Tuesday night.
After being outscored 30-12 by the Orlando Magic in the third quarter on root to a 105-90 loss, Whiteside was benched for the entire fourth quarter. With 40 seconds remaining and the victory all but sealed by the Magic, the big man seemed to have had enough, leaving the bench and walking towards the tunnel. Whiteside finished the game with 12 points and nine rebounds in 25 minutes.
When asked about Whiteside’s early departure following the game, Eric Spoelstra said he was “probably extremely upset like we all are”.
Whiteside is still owed $52 million over the next two years of his contract.
