Philadelphia 76ers Executives Split on Trading Guard Markelle Fultz
They may not be at that point just yet, but they’re getting there.
Philadelphia 76ers executives are currently split on making Markelle Fultz available in trade. If they are to put him on the market, Sixers’ ownership reportedly wants a first-round pick – and not a low one – as compensation in any sort of trade for the former first overall pick.
Fultz is currently out with nerve issues affecting his shoulder and arm, while teammates and people close to the Washington alum believe that his troubles go far further. Mental issues have also plagued the young guard’s career to this point and it seems as though the Sixers do not want to see Fultz back on the court until he figures out a solution to his mental and physical troubles – obviously with the help of the organizations medical and support departments.
Sixers executives apparently “view [Fultz] becoming a star for another team worse than him remaining a Sixer and continuing to struggle”, and they would have to “look at themselves in the mirror” if Fultz does become a star after getting a fresh start with a new team.
Again, that’s just some of the risks that teams have to take.
Through 19 games this season, Fultz has averaged 8.2 points per game and hasn’t played since November 19.
