Kevin Durant Plans to Make Appearance at Collison’s Number Retirement
Since his controversial move to the Bay Area, Kevin Durant has been public enemy #1 back in Oklahoma City.
As the Thunder are set to retire Nick Collison’s number in March, Durant hopes to squash the beef and attend the ceremony to support and congratulate his longtime teammate and friend. Durant has long credited Collison’s leadership for helping him make the transition from college to the NBA.
“That group was so special, that whole group from 2010 until I left there, it was special,” Durant told ESPN. “It’s about time for us to let go of all that extra stuff, and just come together — especially around this time, because it’s Nick.”
The Golden State Warriors take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on March 19, after which Durant will travel down to Oklahoma City for the March 20th ceremony. He will then rejoin the Warriors on the 21st as the team takes on the Indiana Pacers.
For Durant and the Thunder, this seems as a one-time reunion as there are reportedly no plans between both sides to see Durant back in a Thunder’s uniform.
