Anthony Davis Requests Trade, Unwilling to Sign Extension with Pelicans
Well, good morning Los Angeles Lakers fans.
On Monday morning, one of the game’s most powerful agents and the representative for Anthony Davis, Rich Paul of Klutch Sport told ESPN that his client is unwilling to re-sign for the super max with the New Orleans Pelicans. Moreover, he insisted that Davis has requested a trade from the team that drafted him.
“Anthony wants to be traded to a team that allows him a chance to win consistently and compete for a championship,” Paul told ESPN. “Anthony wanted to be honest and clear with his intentions and that’s the reason for informing them of this decision now. That’s in the best interests of both Anthony’s and the organization’s future.”
Agent Rich Paul has notified the New Orleans Pelicans that All-NBA forward Anthony Davis has no intention of signing a contract extension if and when presented and that he has requested a trade, Paul told ESPN on Monday.

Although the Pelicans have expressed no interest to trade the big man prior to the February 7 trade deadline, Davis and Paul may force New Orleans’ hand. That being said, Davis will not be a free agent until 2020 leaving plenty of time for the Pelicans to orchestrate a trade.
The Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics are two teams that have been heavily linked to the superstar for quite some time now.
