Williamson Hurt in Duke Loss

Duke Phenom Zion Williamson Leaves Game vs. UNC with Knee Injury

It was one of the more hyped basketball games of the year.

UNC vs. Duke on the Wednesday night stage.

Insane ticket prices, a number of different headlines, and yet another opportunity to watch Duke’s phenom Zion Williamson play on national television.

Almost in a cruel twist of faith, college basketball’s biggest star hurt himself in the opening minute of the basketball game. Williamson was forced to leave the game with what was diagnosed as a mild knee sprain. He would not return. The injury came at the 36 second mark of the rivalry game.

The number one ranked Duke would go on to lose the game by a score of 88-72.

In Williamson’s absence, R.J. Barrett poured in 33 points while Cameron Reddish added 27 points of his own. Luke Maye led the way for UNC, scoring 30 points and grabbing down 15 rebounds. Cameron Johnson scored 26 points of his own in the victory.

Following the game, Duke Head Coach Mike Kzryzewski said Williamson’s knee was stable and the team will provide a timetable on his return as soon as it becomes available.
