Multiple NBA Contenders Eying Andrew Bogut for Depth at Centre
It’s been about a year since we’ve last seen Andrew Bogut in the NBA.
The former NBA champion suited up in 23 games with the Los Angeles Lakers before stating that he is set on retiring from the NBA. The key in his wording is specifically his intentions to move on from playing in the NBA.
He went on to take his talents back to his native Australia, where he signed a two-year contract with the Sydney Kings. At the conclusion of the NBL season, he was selected the league MVP after averaging 11.4 points, 11.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists, while remaining a standout defensive anchor on the the side of the court that established his worth in the NBA.

The Philadelphia Sixers and Golden State Warriors are two teams that have shown interest in engaging with the seven footer. Bogut was key rim protector for the Warriors when they won their first championship in the Splash Brother era, if you would. Meanwhile, the Sixers have just lost Boban Marjanovic to a right knee sprain and Joel Embiid has been dealing with left knee tendinitis, thus their pursuit of added depth at the centre position makes sense.
It is still unclear as to if Bogut is interested in making a return to the NBA. If he is to sign with a franchise at this point in the season, he will be eligible for the playoffs.
