Bulls’ Markkanen Out for the Season With Excessive Fatigue
After missing the first part of the season recovering from injury, the Chicago Bulls have shut down their young star forward for the remainder of the season.
Lauri Markkanen underwent tests mid-game against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night in order to diagnose the cause for an episode of an excessive bout of fatigue and irregular heart beat. The Arizona product will continue to undergo testing for the next two weeks, but as a precaution, the Bulls have opted to rule him out for the remainder of the 2018-19 campaign.
“The long-term health of our players is always our organization’s top priority,” said John Paxson, Bulls Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations. “We will continue to monitor Lauri’s condition and work with our medical staff and doctors to provide him with everything he may need.”
Through 52 games, Markkanen has averaged 18.7 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.
