Best Basketball Courts to Play Pick-Up Ball in Toronto this Summer
Nice weather is right around the corner and one of my favourite summer activities is playing pick-up ball and getting back in shape. Unfortunately we don’t have a Rucker Park in Toronto, but whether you are looking for a competitive full court game or to just put a few shots up, Toronto is filled with plenty of great courts.
Here are some places to check out this summer!
Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre
This is probably the most popular spot for pick up ball. Located near Queens Quay West and Bathurst, you’ll find some pretty elite ballers here and a competitive basketball environment.
Dufferin Grove Park
The hoops and nets at Dufferin Grove Park are very well maintained and you can find various levels of basketball here, to go with a friendly atmosphere.
Regent Park Athletic Grounds
This facility has well-maintained court to shoot some hoops, and on the odd occasion that you want to switch it up a bit, there’s a great multi-purpose outdoor field to play soccer or football.
Christie Pits Park
One of the more competitive courts, where you’ll usually find a competitive level of play. The one downside here is that there aren’t too many nets, so waiting times can get pretty lengthy.
This spot features 4 full size courts and 3 ‘cages’ where players can gather for some pickup. It is not free, however, as playing a game costs $13.75.
The courts at this spot near Dundas West and Sorauren are usually in great shape, come summer time. You’ll find a mix of adults and high school kids here so the level of competition can vary.
