New Kings Coach in Hot Water

Luke Walton in Hot Water

Luke Walton Accused of Sexual Assault by Los Angeles Dodgers Reporter

Talk about bad timing.

Just a week after the Sacramento Kings hired him as their new head coach, Luke Walton is being sued for allegedly sexually assaulting a women.

In question is Kelli Tennant- previously a Spectrum SportsNet reporter for the Los Angeles Dodgers- who alleges that Walton forced himself on her in a hotel room in Santa Monica, California while he was an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors.

Walton responded via his attorney saying that, “the accuser is an opportunist, not a victim, and her claim is not credible. We intend to prove this in a courtroom.”

As for the Kings, this doesn’t look great. Kings GM Vlade Divac has already come out and said that there was no prior knowledge of this accusation, as not even the Lakers, who mutually parted ways with Walton less than two weeks ago, had any idea about it.

As this took place while he was allegedly with the Warriors, they also released a statement saying, “We became aware of the alleged incident and story this evening and are in the process of seeking more information. We’ll have no further comment at this time.”

Stay tuned. There is more to come on this story. If Walton is indeed convicted of this offense, it will put the Kings organization in a very difficult position.
