Dallas Mavericks Superstar Kristaps Porzingis Accused of Rape
It appears as though Dallas Mavericks superstar Kristaps Porzingis is in quite a bit of hot water.
Over the weekend, a story surfaced regarding to a sexual assault committed by Porzingis in February of last year while still a member of the New York Knicks. The report claims that a woman is accusing Porzingis of rape hours following his season-ending ACL tear. The victim reportedly was owed $68,000 in hush money, a sum she she hoped to use to pay off her brother’s college funds and a sum she has not yet received.
Texts and emails suggest the woman was hoping for a romantic relation with Porzingis in the aftermath of the alleged assault, but nevertheless still asked for the money she was owed.
Porzingis and his representative egregiously deny all accusations.
“We have been aware of these allegations for some time, have evaluated the accuser’s claims and, based on what is presently before us, stand with Kristaps,” said Michele Roberts, the executive director of the NBPA in a statement on Sunday.
The Dallas Mavericks and the NBA are aware of the situation and are investigating the matter.
Porzingis has not played a game this season as he recovers from his ACL tear.
