Sacramento Kings Launch New Wristband Technology
The Sacramento Kings – also known as the tech leaders of the NBA- are launching a new project with a company called TechCentrix, aimed at creating an even more unique experience for fans.
“We are extremely excited to build this wearable technology throughout the market and provide Sacramento fans with another touchpoint to their team,” said TechCentrix CEO Brandon Laidlaw.
The technology in question is an interactive wristband that select fans will receive during games. Starting next season, the wristbands will be available for purchase at the team store, with a percentage of proceeds going to benefit the Kings Foundation for work in the community.
Inside the arena, the wristbands will serve as a conduit for interactive experiences including promotions in real-time, passes to VIP events and personalized giveaways. Outside the arena, fans will be able to use the wristbands to stay up-to-date with game play including real-time scores and stats. Fans will be able to use the rechargeable wristband throughout the whole season. Think of it as an Apple smart watch that revolves around all things Sacramento Kings.
“In Sacramento, we continue to display our creativity and innovation, searching for ways to showcase the best of the region’s startup culture,” said Kings Chief Technology Officer Ryan Montoya. “The interactive wristbands are the latest invention and we are very excited about our partnership with TechCentrix.”
