NBA, NBPA Announce Free Agency Will Now Begin on June 30

If Kawhi Leonard re-signs with the Toronto Raptors on June 30, don’t panic.

For years, NBA free agency kicked off at 12:01 a.m. ET on July 1. That is not the case anymore as the NBA and the NBPA has announced an agreement to push the start of free agency to June 30th, just six hours earlier than the previous start time.

Fact is, NBA players and teams can simply not wait till the turn of the calendar month. This summer, starting at 6 p.m. ET on the 30th day of the month of June, negotiations with free agents will get going.

LeBron James better hurry up with tampering because he just lost a crucial six hours.
