Griffin Garnering Attention

Raptors Assistant Getting Attention From all Around the League

Following a very successful season in his first year as head coach, Nick Nurse has gotten a lot of credit. As is often the case (ex. all of the Gregg Popovich disciples around the NBA), when a head coach does well, teams around the league will look to poach some of his assistants.

That’s the case with the Raptors, as assistant coach Adrian Griffin has been getting interest around the league. The most recent reports indicate that the Memphis Grizzlies interviewed him for their head coaching vacancy.

Griffin has been an assistant for the better part of the last decade. Prior to joining the Raptors, he spent time with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Orlando Magic, Chicago Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks. Though not necessarily known for having an illustrious NBA career, he did play nine solid NBA seasons.

In addition to interviewing Griffin, the Grizzlies have also spoken to former Phoenix Suns head coach Igor Kokoskov and Lithanian coach Sarunas Jasikevicius. Should they decide Griffin is their man, there is little that the Raptors or Nick Nurse will be able to do as it will ultimately be Griffin’s decision.
