Game 7 Between Raptors-Sixers Attracts Biggest Canadian Audience Ever

Think Canada isn’t a basketball country?

Think again.

On Sunday night, from coast to coast, everybody was watching the Toronto Raptors take on the Philadelphia 76ers in a Game 7 thriller. The back-and-forth win or go home contest attracted an average of 2.2 million viewers according to Sportsnet. At it’s peak, an audience of 3.8 million tuned in to watch Kawhi Leonard sink the biggest shot in Raptors franchise history at the buzzer, spelling the end of the Sixers’ season.

With no Canadian teams remaining in the NHL playoffs and the Toronto Blue Jays playing earlier in the day, the game not only garnered the largest television rating for an NBA game in television history, but had the most views in Canadian television history.

Now that is a true Canadian heritage moment.
