Los Angeles Lakers Hire Frank Vogel as New Head Coach

No, it’s not Tyronn Lue or even LaVar Ball, but the Los Angeles Lakers finally found their man.

On Saturday, the Lakers concluded their dramatic and seemingly endless coaching search when they hired former Indiana Pacers Head Coach, Frank Vogel. Vogel beat out Juwan Howard, JB Bickerstaff, and Jason Kidd to win the job. The latter candidate, Kidd, will join Vogel’s staff as a lead assistant.

The 45-year old coach led the Indiana Pacers two back-to-back Conference Finals berths where he ironically fell to the Cleveland Cavaliers, who were then led by LeBron James. After leaving the Pacers, he spent time as the head coach of the Orlando Magic. Vogel has a 304-291 career record as a head coach.

The terms of the contract have not been revealed.
