What Shot?

Kawhi Leonard Focused on the Next Series, Preparing for Bucks

Leave it to Kawhi Leonard to completely underplay the biggest moment in Raptors history and arguably one of the most iconic moments in all of Toronto professional sports.

Only two days after the series-winning shot, Kawhi is looking ahead to the series against the Bucks and admits that he’s oblivious to all of the worldwide buzz surrounding ‘the shot’

Asked when he got over the excitement of the shot, his response was “the next day.” When it was mentioned to him that his shot was considered a “Canadian heritage moment,” he said it was “his first time hearing that.” He added that he’s “pretty sure everybody is excited just for us moving to the next round, but I’m not sure.”

No problem, Kawhi. Stay humble and stay hungry.

It’s worth reiterating that Leonard’s shot was the first game-winning buzzer beater in a Game 7 in NBA history. More than that, it may mean so much more for the Raptors franchise. Only time will tell, but in the meantime Kawhi and the Raptors will prepare for their opening tilt against the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference final on Wednesday night.
