Cauley-Stein Looking to Move from Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings experienced one of their better years in recent memory, yet not everyone seems overly happy.
Center Willie Cauley-Stein’s agent, Roger Montgomery, has recently come out claiming his client is looking for a fresh start after spending his first four NBA seasons with the Sacramento Kings. Cauley-Stein is currently a restricted free agents, meaning the Kings are eligible to match any offer the big man receives.
The Kings have until June 30th to extend a $6.2 million qualifying offer.
“I really think Willie needs a fresh start. Based on how things have gone for him there in Sacramento, I just think it’s time for Willie to move on and we’d really like him to move on,” said Montgomery.
The Kings have since responded to the statement made by the Kentucky alum’s agent.
“Willie is a great player who has shown he can fit our style of play. Beyond that, we can’t comment further,” said the Kings.
Through four years, Cauley-Stein experienced a revolving door of head coaches in Sacramento. The Kings have failed to reach the postseason in 13 consecutive seasons, the longest drought in the NBA.
