Ready for the Big Apple

Projected Lottery Pick Barrett, Ready for the Challenges of New York City

With the #3 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, the New York Knicks seem set on drafting and making Duke forward RJ Barrett a key piece for their future. According to reports, Barrett likes the sound of that, as he is not planning on meeting with any other team after the Knicks.

With Zion Williamson being a lock to be selected first overall by the New Orleans Pelicans, and with Ja Morant reportedly meeting with the Memphis Grizzlies, the Knicks and Barrett seem like a logical tandem at #3.

The one wildcard could be if the Knicks decide to trade the pick. Depending on a) how free agency initially goes and b) if there are other teams looking to potentially trade up and draft Barrett, the Knicks may re-think their options. For example, if the Knicks strike out on Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving and if Anthony Davis is still available, a scenario could unfold where the #3 pick is sent to New Orleans for an opportunity to pair Duke teammates Williamson and Barrett, together.

As of now, of course, the Knicks will be making a selection at #3 and all signs point to the Canadian phenom Barrett, heading to the Big Apple.
