Chris Paul Criticized for Prioritizing Superstars as NBPA President
There seems to be a slight bit of displeasure with the way Chris Paul is leading the NBPA.
According to an unnamed veteran, many players within league circles are unhappy with Paul, as the Players Association President has prioritized superstars, while overlooking the middle and lower class.
“They advocate for the interests of max players and super-max players,” Said one player in an interview with The Athletic. “Basically, the CBA has helped the whole banana boat crew from back in the day. It’s taken from the midlevel. I think middle-tier players aren’t getting that mid level money anymore.
“I think just that huge super max has had cost. Teams are putting all their eggs in one basket to keep that super-max guy. It’s dried up the salary cap. I don’t see it as sustainable long term.”
Each free agency period, superstar players tend to drive the value in the NBA. As one star gets paid, it initiates a domino effect which impacts the contracts of the rest of the league.
