The Jordan Brand is a Nike subsidiary, meaning Williamson is not directly tied to Nike itself.
Named the Naismith College Player of the Year, Williamson averaged 22.6 points and 8.9 rebounds while shooting 68-percent from the field in his lone year at Duke. He was the number one overall pick in this past June’s draft and received an invitation to USA Basketball’s FIBA World Cup tryout camp. Williamson recently turned down the invite in order to focus on integrating himself into the Pelicans schemes.
The contract Williamson has signed ha the potential to be the biggest since LeBron James inked a contract with Nike in 2003.
