Chinese Basketball Association to Bar Players Facing NBA Drug Bans
The Chinese Basketball Association made a stern announcement this week.
As per Shams Charania of The Athletic, the CBA will no longer be accepting players who are facing bans related to drug or violent offences from other professional basketball leagues.
Tyreke Evans and OJ Mayo most recently have received bans from the NBA for repeated drug offences. Evans in particular was suspended during the offseason and will not be eligible for reinstatement for up to two years. With the new rule in place, he will be ineligible of signing within China’s top domestic league.
The CBA becomes the first league to make the rule banning players for committing offences in other leagues.
