Cousins in Hot Water

Cousins Allegedly Threatens to Shoot Estranged GF Prior to Wedding

DeMarcus Cousins’ summer may have just gotten much worse.

It’s a shame too really because after suffering a season-ending ACL tear, Cousins was able to get his mind away from basketball and celebrate a special occasion – his wedding.

The NBA and the Los Angeles Lakers have now opened an investigation after TMZ video has surfaced of Cousins allegedly threatening to shoot his estranged former girlfriend Christy West. The woman who is currently seeking a restraining order against  the Lakers center claims that Cousins said he would put a “bullet in (her) f—ing head” if West did not allow their 7-year old son to attend Cousins’ wedding to another woman.

“We are aware of the allegation involving DeMarcus Cousins and, of course, take this claim seriously,” the Lakers said in a statement. “We are in the process of gathering information and will reserve further comment at this time.”

The Lakers signed Cousins earlier in the offseason to a one-year contract prior to Cousins tearing his ACL during a rec league basketball game. With the length of recovery time that an ACL tear requires and a potential suspension that may very well follow if the allegations are confirmed, Cousins will be unable to suit up for the Lakers at any point during this upcoming campaign even if he is cleared for basketball activity. Cutting ties with Cousins may be the easiest and safest move the team can make at this point in time.

Cousins was married over the weekend.
