With Cory Joseph Out, Canada Left With Zero Established NBA Players
What has become of Team Canada?
On Tuesday afternoon, it was announced that Sacramento Kings guard Cory Joseph will not participate in the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China. Joseph was the last of all of the high profile Canadian NBA players to initially attend the national team tryouts to opt out from participation.
He will join a long list of the likes of RJ Barrett, Kelly Olynyk and Jamal Murray to have removed themselves from the World Cup roster.
NBA source tells me Cory Joseph will NOT play for Canada at the World Cup. Middle of the night in Australia so Canada Basketball comment a few hours away

Already in Australia with the team, Joseph has participated in pre-tournament tune-ups with the Canadians.
According to Michael Grange of Sportsnet, the amassment of injuries and training camp quickly approaching gave Joseph second thoughts on joining the team. Nick Nurse will now be forced to lead a very underwhelming Canadian team in what looks like an extremely tough Group H.
The Golden Age of Canadian Basketball has sadly been put on an indefinite hold.
