San Antonio Spurs to Retire Tony Parker’s No. 9 on November 11
The San Antonio Spurs have been honouring their greats in each of the past two seasons.
They will do so again early on in the upcoming campaign.
On November 11, on the night San Antonio is set to take on the Memphis Grizzlies, the Spurs will retire Tony Parker’s no. 9 jersey. Parker marks the third and final pillar of the San Antonio Spurs dynasty to be honoured by the franchise. In 17 seasons in San Antonio, Parker helped the Spurs qualify for the playoffs in each year, winning four NBA championships along the way. He was named the MVP of the 2007 NBA Finals and also made six NBA All-Star teams.
With the honour, Parker will become the 10th player in franchise history, who alongside the likes of former teammates Bruce Bowen and David Robinson, will see his number raised to the rafters.
Parker averaged 15.8 points and 5.7 assists in his tenure as a Spur.
