NBA to Require All 30 Teams to Hire Licensed Mental Health Professional
The NBA took a very important step on Wednesday in an effort to aid its players.
The league released a memo stating that by the start of the NBA season, all 30 teams are required to hire a licensed mental health professional and psychiatrist. Thanks in large part to a number of players, mental health has been brought to the forefront in the sporting world and the NBA is taking the requisite steps to help its players.
Very Proud of our league. ???
A major win for players, coaches, and organizations moving forward—also want to note the potential it has to help our players in life after basketball. https://t.co/hGSNg6co95

The NBAPA reported played a critical role in pushing for the NBA to develop this initiative. Commissioner Adam Silver also stated at a recent Sloan Conference, that he has realized that this generation of players in unhappy and needs the help of licensed professionals.
A very important development within NBA circles, Silver should be commended for this new initiative.
