Los Angeles Lakers, Dwight Howard Have Mutual Interest in Contract
With DeMarcus Cousins more than likely ruled out for the season with a torn ACL, the Los Angeles Lakers have been active members of the free agent market.
The goal is to find a replacement big man.
Zaza Pachulia, Kenneth Faried, and Marcin Gortat are all options that the Lakers have, but it seems that they are interested in bringing former Laker Dwight Howard back to Los Angeles. According to reports, the feeling is mutual as Howard is expected to be waived by his current team, the Memphis Grizzlies.
The 33-year former superstar big man played with the Lakers during the 2012-13 season in a year marred by controversy as Howard and then Laker superstar Kobe Bryant butted heads repeatedly throughout the campaign leading to Howard eventually leaving the Lakers in free agency.
Howard played in just nine games last season prior to suffering an injury. Nevertheless, he averaged 12.8 points and 9.2 rebounds per game with the Washington Wizards.
