NBA Proposes New Rule Requiring Coaches to Announce Starters Early
The NBA is doing its due diligence to become a mainstay in the gambling market.
The potential tweak was reported earlier in the month, but now the NBA has proposed a rule change which will force coaches to announce their starting lineups within 30 minutes of tip-off. The previous rule called for coaches to declare their starters within 10-minutes of tip off.
The rule change is presumably connected with the league’s interest in transforming into a powerhouse within gambling circles. This will allow sports gamblers to know which players are in and which players are out, with time to spare to make bets.
The league has also proposed a tweak requiring teams to announce their starting lineups at least 30 minutes before tip-off — up from 10 minutes, per sources.

This move is also important for fantasy sports participants as the rule, if put into effect, would allow players to change their daily lineups with plenty of time before tip-off.
A change that may seem very minor, the proposal is definitely a smart move on the part of the NBA.
