NBA Agencies Looking to Boycott NCAA Over New Certification Exam
The NCAA asked for it and now they’re getting it.
According to sources close to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, a number of NBA agencies have plans to boycott the NCAA over the institution’s new mandatory certification process. The report claims that NBA agencies received a memo from the NCAA on Thursday reminding them to apply for the certification exam before the September 30 deadline. Many NBA firms have declined to participate in the in-person testing.
The test is scheduled to be held in Indianapolis on November 6.
The certification exam is not the only new requirement instituted by the NCAA this summer. The NCAA was met with intense criticism after raising necessary qualifications, which included the need of a college degree for agents if they hoped to represent draft-eligible players.
