Toronto Raptors Launch Team-Branded Hijab to Promote Inclusivity
The Toronto Raptors are looking to promote togetherness and inclusivity all across Canada.
In a powerful statement, the organization’s ownership group, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, has released a new line of team-branded hijabs. A social media post with the caption “inspired by those brave enough to change the game” unveiled the look of the Nike Pro hijabs.
“One of the things that we are very interested in is moving from saying we are just about inclusivity and accessibility, and finding ways to bring products and ideas to market that actually prove that,” said the MLSE’s Senior Marketing Director Jerry Ferguson in a telephone interview on Friday.
The announcement has made the Raptors the first NBA franchise to offer athletic hijabs to Muslim women.
