Siakam a “Virtual Lock” to Receive Max Extension Before Deadline
After plenty of talk over the past month or so, it seems like the Toronto Raptors and Pascal Siakam are getting close to a contract extension as per Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports.
With the deadline looming on Monday, a max extension is considered a “virtual lock” and may even happen prior to the weekend. Siakam would become the third member of his 2016 draft class to ink a max extension this offseason, joining Denver Nuggets’ guard Jamal Murray and Philadelphia 76ers’ All- Star Ben Simmons. Buddy Hield of the Sacramento Kings is also nearing a max extension of his own.
According to Blake Murphy of The Athletic, the contract is expected to be in the four-year, $130-million range.
The 6’9” Cameroonian is coming off his best NBA season in which he took home Most Improved Player of the Year honours and at just 25 years of age, the expectations around the organization is that Siakam is just scratching the surface of his ceiling.
Siakam averaged 16.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game in his third NBA season.
