Raptors 905 Select Leland King II, 2 Others in 2019 NBA G League Draft

In case you are not familiar with the G League Draft, understand that it is far different than the NBA Draft.

While the NBA Draft has only 2 rounds, the G League Draft has four and G League teams are able to “pass” on drafting when their time to pick rolls around. In the 905’s case, the Toronto Raptors G League affiliate chose to pass on the final round, sticking with just three players on the night.

Who are they? Well, let’s take a look.

Owners of three third round selections, the 905 used their first pick to select Leland King II, a 6’7” forward out of UC Santa Barbara who rebounded the ball extremely well in his senior year and shot the three at a 41-percent clip. The 24-year old cracked the First Team All-Big West back in 2018.

With the 21st pick of the third round, the 905 grabbed Mike Parks out of Memphis, a 6’9” forward with length, athleticism, and impressive shot-blocking ability. A gritty and high-energy undersized big man, Parks can also step up and hit the three when need be.¬†Lastly, the 905 grabbed a third forward out of Illinois by the name of Mike Davis. At 31 years old has spent plenty of time playing oversees and will be relied on to provide some depth for the G League team.

Overall, a solid draft for the 905 who desperately needed to fill holes of a plethora of players who opted to move oversees to further their playing careers.
