Former Toronto Raptors Looking to Trademark “What it do Baby”

LeBron James attempted to trademark “Taco Tuesdays”.

Now, Kawhi Leonard is looking to follow suit as he intends to trademark a catchphrase that has virtually taken over the NBA, if not the entire country of Canada.

Being featured in Serge Ibaka’s Instagram story shortly after the Toronto Raptors captured their first NBA championship, Leonard uttered the surefire catchphrase of the year: “What it do baby”. Now, the newest Los Angeles Clipper is hoping to trademark that as well as the phrase, “City views over interviews.”

Both applications were filed through his company Leonard, LLC with the intent to be used for merchandize as well as clothing. Not a bad idea to provide New Balance with new material with which to dominate the market. After seeing the way the “Fun Guy” fad took off, anything New Balance touches may just turn to gold.

The trademark attempt failed for James, but with the year Leonard has been having, could anything really go wrong for the reigning Finals MVP?
