New York Knicks Hire Former Cavaliers Coach David Blatt as Consultant
The New York Knicks keep re-working their front office, while maintaining Steve Mills at the helm.
While it seems extremely uncertain that the organization retains Mills as the team’s president following the end of the season, at this point, he is still calling the shots. On Wednesday, he named long-time friend and former NBA coach David Blatt as the Knicks new basketball operations consultant.

“I look forward to my next step in my career as I officially retire from coaching and pursue other opportunities in basketball,” Blatt said in a statement released by the Knicks. “I’ve long been intrigued by working in a front office and thank [Knicks president] Steve [Mills] and [Knicks general manager] Scott [Perry] for the opportunity to be a resource to the basketball operations staff.”
Both Blatt and Mills played together at Princeton University.
In other news, as the trade deadline approaches, the Knicks plan to dangle Julius Randle and a number of expiring contracts in trade. The Knicks signed a number of players over the offseason to one-year deals and will look to package them in hopes on getting younger and acquiring more cap room.
So in other news, the Knicks are running in circles. Carry on!
