Rookie of the Year Favourite Ja Morant Out Week-to-Week
Ja Morant has been on a tear since making his NBA debut.
The rookie sensation out of Murray State has very quickly cemented himself as a Rookie of the Year favourite, averaging 18.6 points and 6.4 assists through his first 17 career games while shooting 41-percent from long range. Quick and shifty with an ability to shoot the ball, Morant has given the Memphis Grizzlies some much needed hope for the future.
But in the short term, the Grizz will have to do without the 20 year old point guard who will be out indefinitely as he deals with back spasms.
Morant’s back issues flared up last Monday and the Grizzlies will take a week-to-week approach with the rookie as he works his way back to the court.
Tyus Jones is expected to receive more playing time in Morant’s absence.
