Miami Heat to Retire Dwyane Wade’s Number in Three-Day Celebration

The Miami Heat are set to honour their former superstar Dwyane Wade.

The most beloved star in the Heat’s franchise history, Miami is pulling out all the stops for the man who brought the organization three NBA championships. In what has never been seen before, the Heat plan on celebrating Wade’s legacy in a three-day celebration, which will include retiring his no. 3 jersey.

The number retirement will take place on February 22 during halftime when the Heat take on the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The night before will be dubbed The Flashback, as the Heat re-live all of the best moments of Wade’s Hall of Fame worthy career. On the 23rd, ESPN Films will release a Wade documentary.

Wade spent 14-and-a-half seasons in Miami, including the first 13 years of his career.A 13-time All-Star, Wade averaged 22.7 points per game in a Heat jersey.

“It’s been great,” he said back in April about his final season. “Coming into this year, [I was] a little uncomfortable trying to do a [retirement] tour. A little narcissistic of me. But I kind of wanted to give the fans an opportunity to say goodbye, and I wanted a chance to say goodbye.

“But the tour has kind of taken on a life of its own.”

When you think Miami Heat, you think Flash!
