Frustration Begins to Grow as Losing Ways Continue in Sacramento
When it comes to being one of the most dysfunctional franchises in sports, the Sacramento Kings are definitely up there.
Turmoil continues to permeate in the Kings organization as multiple players as well as owner Vivek Ranadive have all expressed frustration with the Kings ongoing ineptitude. Sitting at 21-33, the Kings occupy 13th place in the Western Conference and have taken a big step back after what was a promising 2018-19 season.
“We share our fans’ frustrations with how the season has unfolded and are working hard to improve,” the Kings said in a statement to The Athletic. “We remain confident in Vlade’s leadership in building the winning team that our fans and city deserve.”
According to sources, the Kings are not ready to make any imminent changes to their front office or coaching staff.
Meanwhile, the sense of urgency is starting to grow amongst players. After the Kings were able to move on from a disgruntled DeWayne Dedmon at the deadline, there appears to be some friction between the organization and Buddy Hield. Hield signed a four-year, $94-million extension with the Kings this offseason and has been relegated to the bench amid the Kings continued skid.
Hield has already publicly criticized head coach Luke Walton on multiple occasions and there is belief around the organization that the former Oklahoma Sooner will request a trade of the Kings dysfunction continues.
In typical Kings fashion, there remains no answer as things seem destined to remain as they were moving forward.
