Team LeBron Reigns Supreme

Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard Lead Team LeBron to All-Star Game Win

That was awesome – absolutely incredible!

Never have you ever seen anything like it on this stage.

That fourth quarter will go down in history and will never be forgotten. What NBA fans witnessed tonight was the greatest basketball players in the world getting after it, putting their bodies on the line, and going all out to reach the 157 point mark and earn their charity an extra $300,000.

This was no regular NBA game.

Following a confusing first three quarters, the final frame was a pick-up game to the finish, in which Team LeBron had to overcome a nine point deficit to earn a hard-fought All-Star Game victory. Behind All-Star Game MVP, Kawhi Leonard and a clutch free throw from Chicago-native Anthony Davis, Team LeBron overcame Team Giannis for a second straight season.

Earlier in the weekend, NBA commissioner Adam Silver announced that the All-Star Game MVP will be renamed in the late Kobe Bryant’s honour. Tonight, an NBA Finals-esque 30-point performance for Leonard earned him the trophy.

“Kobe Bryant is synonymous with NBA All-Star and embodies the spirit of this global celebration of our game. He always relished the opportunity to compete with the best of the best and perform at the highest level for millions of fans around the world,” said Silver.

Leading the way for Team Giannis was none other than Giannis Antetokounmpo who finished the night with a team-high 25 points and 11 rebounds. Kemba Walker added 23 points, while Joel Embiid poured in 22 points and grabbed 10 boards. The Toronto Raptors duo of Kyle Lowry and Pascal Siakam finished with 13 and 15 points apiece in the loss.

Pacing Leonard on Team LeBron was Chris Paul with 23 points off the bench. LeBron James scored 23 points of his own while Davis pitched in with 20 points.

A night that started with an unbelievable tribute to Bryant from Jennifer Hudson, and a perfect and emotional player introduction ceremony from Common, the NBA has hit this weekend out of the park.

Next year in Indiana!
