Exploring All Options

When it Comes to the 2020 NBA Playoffs, League Weighing All Options

The NBA is hell-bent on seeing that the season is played out and completed.

While there is no set return date for the NBA, nor does anyone really know when it will finally be safe to play again, league executives, are hoping they can arrange a one-site 16-team postseason with a five-to-seven game regular season warmup prior to its onset. There is very little hope that there will be any fans in attendance for anymore games this season.

“They’re very determined to have a champion,” one industry source said.

The length of each playoff series will be discussed as well, as the NBA appears willing to reduce the playoffs to best-of-three series if time becomes limited. That being said, a single-game elimination format has been all but ruled out at this point and is viewed as a last resort.

“Nothing is off the table,” another league official said.

Las Vegas, Orlando, Atlantic City, and Hawaii have all been mentioned as potential host cities if the playoffs are to take place this season.
