Los Angeles Lakers Sign Dion Waiters for Remainder of the Season
It came down to JR Smith and Dion Waiters, and the Los Angeles Lakers made their pick.
After impressing in a workout earlier in the week, the Lakers have opted to sign Dion Waiters for the remainder of the season. As the Memphis Grizzlies waived him prior to the March 1 deadline, Waiters will be eligible to suit up for the Lakers in the postseason.
Already adding Markieff Morris via the buyout market, the Lakers now seem ready as ever for the playoffs with this most recent signing. Notoriously struggling whenever LeBron James is off the floor, Waiters provides the Lakers with an additional scorer and more importantly, a guard who is able to create his own offence.

After receiving hardly any playing time with the Miami Heat early on the season due to behaviour detrimental to the team, the Lakers believe the reward will outweigh the risk with this signing. Availability has been a concern for Waiters, who has not reached the 50 games played plateau since the 2015-16 season. He has only seen three games of action this season.
In 44 games last season, Waiters averaged 12 points per game while shooting 37.7 percent from long range
