Kobe Bryant Documentary Could Potentially Follow The Last Dance
The legacies of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant will be intertwined for eternity.
The late Bryant infamously mimicked Jordan’s game, while demonstrating the same mental toughness and will to win as the Chicago Bulls legend. Now, it appears that a documentary may soon follow.
With the incredible early success of the first two episode of The Last Dance, a former Los Angeles Lakers executive believes that a Bryant documentary could be in the works shortly as the team owns dozens of hours of never-before-seen footage of the Lakers legend during his final season.
“They had unprecedented and, by far, greater access than anyone else ever,” said John Black, who led the Lakers’ public relations department for 27 years. “We certainly allowed them to do everything we could within what the league would allow, and sometimes, with a wink and look-the-other-way, allowed them even more.”
According to a source, the footage is currently in the editing stages, but the goal is for a documentary to eventually be released. Bryant himself has allegedly seen the edited material and provided feedback leading up to his tragic death in January.
Bryant had his own crew which was granted approval by the league to document his 2015-16 campaign.
