The Last Dance Becomes Most In-Demand Documentary in the World
As was the case just over 20 years ago, Michael Jordan is back atop of the world.
On the weekend of the release of episodes 5 and 6, a study conducted by Parrot Analytics found that The Last Dance documentary has surpassed Tiger King as the most in-demand documentary in the world. The Last Dance has also very quickly become the most-watched documentary in the history of ESPN.
“We are tracking a rise in demand for sports documentaries during the coronavirus pandemic,” added Steve Langdon, a director of partnerships at Parrot.
The data itself shows an eye-popping 1,227% increase in demand for the documentary which chronicles the finals year of the Chicago Bulls legendary dynasty. According to Nielsen, 12 million viewers checked into watch The Last Dance on ESPN and ESPN2.
The Last Dance is expected to continue smashing more records as ESPN continues to release each episode.
