Teams May be Required to Conduct Training Camp at Local Facilities
As will be the case for everything, the NBA is leaning towards forcing its teams to hold an unorthodox training camp at local practice facilities for 2-3 weeks if the league decides to finish playing out its season.
While Adam Silver is still a couple weeks away from making a final decision, it appears as though the majority of players, executives, and agents are optimistic about a return to play. If the season is to return, teams will converge in bubble cities following “Training Camp 2.0” to complete the season and crown a new NBA champion.
“It’s going to take a ramp-up [before returning],” said Sixers’ General Manager, Elton Brand a few weeks ago. “We’re definitely going to need some time to get back in the gym to have time to get [our] legs and wind back to have a healthy and safe return.”
There remains hope that by June all teams will be able to return to their respective practice facilities. A number of states have already allowed for limited gym access for professional sports teams.
The clock on the NBA season is ticking.
