NBA Announces Plans for COVID-19 Testing Rules in Orlando

In a bit over a week, players will begin to arrive in Orlando for the start of training camp and the NBA has been doing its due diligence to ensure maximum safety.

Players and staff will begin testing on June 23rd and will undergoing tests every other day while on site. The testing will only be covering “essential team staff”, which includes coaches, trainers, medical personnel, and anyone else who will be working with the players directly.

Teams can arrive to the Disney World facility by no later than July 9.

In the process of conducting its mass testing, the NBA is looking to fund a Yale School of Public Health study to support saliva-based testing that could provide more non-invasive methods that can be utilized by hospitals when dealing with the general public.
