New York Knicks Interview Tom Thibodeau, Also Show Interest in Kidd
Tom Thibodeau is one of the hottest names on the coaching market nowadays and it appears as though he has at least one suitor that has him atop their preference list.
The New York Knicks have been said to be incredibly high on the former Chicago Bulls coach. Thibodeau, who was an assistant with the team from 1996 to 2004. On Thursday, Thibodeau formally interviewed with the organization according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and seems to be the favourite to land the job.
The Knicks are expected to be a very young and exciting team for he foreseeable future with plenty of cap flexibility to work with.
“Our team has young talent, significant future assets [including seven first-round picks over the next four years] and an ample amount of financial flexibility in the coming years,” President of Basketball Operations Leon Rose said. “Everyone — from ownership to athletes to staff and especially our fans — wants this team to be a winner. We will have all the resources necessary to create a great organization — one that supports our efforts to build a winning culture and gives Knicks fans, and the city of New York, the team you deserve.”
Also on the Knicks’ radar are a duo of former Brooklyn Nets coaches. Kenny Atkinson and Jason Kidd are two names that have been involved in the conversation.
The team hopes to find their head coach within the next few weeks before the end of July.
