NBA Names Oris Stuart as New Chief People and Inclusion Officer
The NBA has followed a couple of its teams in hiring a head of inclusion and cultural diversity.
On Thursday, Oris Stuart was named the Chief People and Inclusion Officer for the league. Stuart will oversee diversity and inclusion strategies for the NBA, WNBA, NBA G League and NBA 2K League. He will focus primarily on supporting the growth and development of the NBA’s global workforce, while engaging in community outreach as well as developing diverse talent.
“Oris’ appointment as Chief People and Inclusion Officer is a testament to his impact on our leagues and teams over the past five years,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. “His commitment to developing our employees and driving inclusion at every level of our organization make him uniquely suited for this new role.”
Stuart has been a part of the NBA since 2015, but has a wealth of knowledge as a business executive who has been involved in diversity and inclusion issues for nearly two decades. Prior to beginning his role with the league, he served as the Chief Executive Officer for Global Novations, the world’s leading provider of diversity and inclusion consulting and training solutions.
Stuart will official begin in his new role on August 15.
