Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Deni Avdija Becomes Youngest MVP in Israeli League
Deni Avdija collected one final piece of hardware before he is set to become a lottery pick in the 2020 draft.
The Israeli product has been named the Israeli Winner League MVP for the 2019-20 season, marking him as the youngest player to ever win the award in the history of the championship. The 19-year old big man finished the season averaging 13.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

Behind Avdija’s strong play, Maccabi Tel Aviv won its third straight Israeli League championship. In four playoff games, Avdija averaged 10.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
“Before I go to the U.S., I have a job to finish here in Israel,” Avdija told ESPN prior to the resumption of the winter season.
All eyes will be on Avdija come the 2020 Draft as the EuroLeague prospect is one of the lesser known players on this side of the planet. Yet, despite the uncertainty, his stock has continued to rise throughout the year and into the Summer and some projections even have him as high as the top-5.
The track record for Israeli players isn’t a large one, but Avdija can break that stigma soon enough.
