Sixers Eying Mike D’Antoni as Next Head Coach, Harden in Free Agency
The Philadelphia 76ers have some glorious plans for the near future.
According to numerous sources, the Sixers are heavily pursuing Mike D’Antoni for their head coaching vacancy. D’Antoni has recently chose to step away from the Houston Rockets. Per John Clark of NBC, the Sixers hope to bring on D’Antoni in an effort to appease to James Harden who they believe may be turning impatient with the Rockets organization.
“I’m hearing one of the reasons along with coaching that Sixers have a lot of interest in Mike D’Antoni is feeling with some in organization that he could help lure James Harden to Philly,” Clark said.

There is no word on whether the Sixers have had exploratory talks with the Rockets on some sort of Harden mega-trade. The Rockets superstar signed a four-year extension back in 2017 and will not be a free agent until the 2022 offseason. To this point, he has not shown anything publicly to suggest that he hopes to leave Houston.
D’Antoni is 69 years old, so if the Sixers have some elaborate plans that involve the veteran head coach, they may want to ramp things up pronto.
